Since I started this newsletter at the beginning of the summer and tomorrow is the first day of fall, I thought I’d do a roundup of the best Gonzo Worlds so far. Also because after tomorrow I’m going to move this newsletter to an every-other-week format so I can spend more time on professional development. A whole new chapter! That will be mostly the same.
Here’s my vetted list of the best summer 2020 Gonzo World newsletters, but first, the only good thing that happened in the last six months, the late-breaking song of the summer:
Crocodile Tears
The ultimate culmination of my lifelong obsession with Crocs.
Police Stories
The first of exactly two times I wrote something relevant to what’s actually going on in the world.
Scenestory
This series is both my Moby Dick and my white whale, I will forever be chasing the right words to explain what it is about the emo genre that made me want to stop listening to winsome indie pop and ruin my Spotify Discover playlists.
What if Into the Woods but modern day?
I’m just really proud of this one, I think it came out really well.
Songs with bonkers backstories
I have a bunch of other playlists in my back pocket that someday I will probably turn into newsletters, but I don’t know if any of them will be as good as this one.
Your horoscope told by current events in 1998
Definitely a hall-of-famer.
A History of Copypasta
This was one of the easiest newsletters to write, thanks to 20 years of me being extremely online.
My mother, the Simsfluencer
Eventually I’m going to incorporate more interviews into this newsletter because this was a blast to do.
